Youth Cricket at the Dolphins

The Gold Coast Dolphins District Cricket Club is seeking players for their Under 17 (Taverners) and Under 19 Teams for the coming season. These competitions are played on Sundays prior to Christmas and there is no requirement to play grade cricket for the “Dolphins” to be eligible. In fact players are encouraged to play for their local clubs if they so desire. Players who are keen to play Grade Cricket for the Dolphins will be identified at the first session but should be aware that there is no 5th Grade team this coming season.

Craig McDERMOTT (U/17) and Steve BAKER (U/19) are the coaches for the coming season and both teams will train together both in the pre-season and in the regular season.

Players should fit within the following categories to be eligible to attend the pre-season training sessions.

Under 19

This age group is seeking players who are genuinely under 19 players who have playing experience with the Dolphins last year and/or players who have played 1st or 2nd Grade for their local club and are desirous of playing in this competition. Statistics will be viewed and only players who have the experience and ability should attend.

This competition plays a series of one day games against other District Clubs with a play off to decided the Premier.

Under 17

Under 17 eligibility is restricted to players who fall within the following categories:

Gold Coast/SEQ Under 16A players from last season. Gold Coast/SEQ Under 15A players from last season. Selected Gold Coast 14A players from last season. Players at the Coaches discretion who have the talent and ability but do not fall within the above categories.

Invitations will be issued to eligible players.

This competition comprises of two day games with 80 over’s a day minimum with a first past the post winner.

Training will commence on Sunday 26 July 2009 between 9am to 12 noon at The Southport School nets located in Winchester Street, Southport and continue there for the first few weeks. A selected squad will continue training after this time.
